Audi a6 c5 fuel gauge not working. Took it for a test drive, and now the fuel gauge is not.

Audi a6 c5 fuel gauge not working I topped up and the gauge didn?t reset to a full reading. Its full and warning light comes on, its empty and says its full. The next time I added fuel I noticed the fuel needle hardly moved.
